Functional description, Start-up and Installation instructions
Functional description
Due to the implemented standstill function of the ASB10 only the braking current has to be adjusted. The current control of the brake regulates any thermal change of the motor resistance. Therefore the braking duration is allways the same. Additionally manufacturing fluctuations of the motor windings are balanced.
The standstill detection dynamically adapts to different engine sizes in star or delta connection. No further adjustment is necessary. If the stand-still is detected, a brake current flows for an optimised after-brake time of only 0.5 seconds through the motor.
The device monitors the standards of the professional association according to GS-HO-01 with respect to the braking times and error detection. If the maximum braking duration exceeded 10 seconds three times due to incorrect setting of the braking current, overload or aging, the brake shuts down the machine.
If the required braking duration exceeds 14 seconds, the brake switches off immediately. The motor may overrun in this case. A restart is prevented. Both locks are released by a power interruption.
Additional the brake is monitoring the internal power semiconductors and the external circuitry. The current regulator prevents the acceleration of the current at overload. The sensor detects any interruption of the brake circuit and prevents another startup.
If the controller is connected to the network, the brake completes a short self-test. During this test the braking current is activated for about 200 ms. After about 0.5 seconds the controller is ready for engine starting.
Start-up
The required braking power depends on the used motor and the flywheel. For this reason it may be necessary to change the factory default settings. The braking current has to be adjusted with the potentiometer in a way that the motor stops within 10 seconds. Braking times less than 3 seconds causes unnecessary heating of the brake and the engine and should be avoided. The braking current should be monitored during the setting with a moving-iron type or a DC current probe (with True RMS) and must be less then 10 A.
Make sure that the maximum braking time is maintained with all the tools and saw blades. If the singular setting is complete, the controller is ready for use.
At idle mode and when the engine is running, the release for starting is activated (COM-NO). During braking, this release is blocked. If the release remains blocked, then the braking time was exceeded or an other error has occurred. The brake blocks now a new start of the engine. The blockade is released, if you disconnect the device for a short period of time from the network.
Installation instructions
The motor connection cable should be as short as possible. Cables longer than 10 m can be critical for the functionality of the standstill detection. To prevent interferences, motor wires must not be placed with other high frequency control leads.
